By Faith, Not Works

I was born in a typical Christian household and grew up in a church for as long as I can remember. I went to Sunday school, learned about Jesus, sang worship songs and prayed like all the other kids. Being in a Christian secondary school, allowed me to start serving in the school’s worship team from the age of 14. Growing up with all of these made the idea of Christianity a very real concept in my life. I followed the rules in school and obeyed my parents at home (for the most part at least), which made me feel like I was a good Christian. It was only later in life after going through some bad relationships where I realised the weight and gravity of my sin. I was a sinner like everyone else and I needed to follow Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. God opened my eyes to see that my salvation was not tied to the circumstances I was brought up in or the actions I took, like going to church regularly or serving on the worship team. But rather, it was about repenting of my sin and putting my faith in Jesus Christ, knowing that the forgiveness of my sins was solely because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection. Jesus bore the judgment I deserved for my sin, so that I can be right with God, reconciled to Him as His child. And God raised Jesus from the dead, so that I might freely receive new life in Christ.

Romans 3:23-24 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

The Christian walk isn’t always easy but I trust that God put me here in RHC for a reason and I know I am in good company. I hope to grow in Christ together with my fellow RHC members.
